Running Away!

One day, Sean was teaching Jane how to build a block tower.
"You have to have a steady base," he explained.

Running Away! Running Away!

Just then, Ian rushed in holding his cap gun.  "I'll get you,
bad guys!" he yelled.

"Go away, we're busy," Sean said.
Ian kicked over the tower.  "I'll stay here if I want to!" he yelled.

Running Away! Running Away!

Sean was mad and started to cry.
"Oh, I'll help you build a new stupid tower," Ian said.  "Baby."

"Who are you calling a baby?" Sean yelled.  Soon we were in a
big fight.  Jane got scared by all the yelling and started crying.

Running Away!

Mommy came rushing in.  "What's wrong, Jane?" she asked.
"Boys, I need you to play quietly.  You're scaring the baby."
"Stupid Jane, getting us in trouble," Ian said.
"Yeah," said Sean.
Before we realized what we were doing, we both threw the
blocks in our hands at the baby.

Running Away!

The blocks didn't even hit anybody, but Mommy was still angry.  She put us in time-out.
"I think Mommy doesn't love us anymore," Sean said.  "She only loves Jane."
"I know," Ian said.  "Maybe we should just run away from home."
"Okay," Sean said.  "Then Mommy will be sorry."

Running Away! Running Away!

When Mommy said our time-out was over,  Ian went and
explained the plan to Zane.  Zane barked.

Sean got some food supplies from the cupboard.

Running Away!

Then we set off into the big wide world.

Running Away! Running Away!

When we reached the edge of the yard, we had a problem.
We aren't allowed to go past the cattle guard.
We decided we could live in the grass at the edge of the yard.

We spread out our blanket and Ian read a story to Zane.

Running Away!

Sean helped himself to the food supply.

Running Away!

"Well, it's going to be dark soon," Ian said.  "Better get the flashlight out."
Sean started to cry.  "I don't want to live outside in the dark!  There's bears out here!"
Then we heard Mommy calling us.
"You know, Mommy will be cross if she can't find us," Ian said.
"And she'll be very cross if we get eaten by bears and our clothes get ripped," Sean said.
"Maybe we better move back into the house," Ian said.  "Hey, wait up!"

Running Away! Running Away!

We ran to the door and let ourselves in.  When we got in, we
found out that Mommy had cooked our favorite supper.
"I was starting to worry about you two," she said.
"Really?  We didn't think you loved us anymore."
"Yeah, we thought you only love Jane."
It turns out that Mommy still loves us very much.  She gave us
both lots of kisses.

As we were soaking in the tub that night, we decided that we
are very glad we didn't stay runned away.
It's nice to have a warm, safe home where people love you.
