Trouble Hates Christmas

Hello!  Once again it is I, Trouble, here to tell you about the trials of living in my house.
Earlier this month, Mommy decided we should drag a tree from outside, bring it inside, and hang things on it.
I didn't want to.  I wanted to keep watching television.  Mommy said it will be fun.
I pointed out that in the past, she has been a terrible judge of what I think will be fun.
Mommy said I can at least try things before I decide if they are fun.  (I tried tree decorating.  It is not fun! It's pretty boring!)

After that Mommy said why don't we decorate a gingerbread house.  That didn't sound too bad.
I didn't like it too much once we started though.  The icing was very sticky and I didn't want it to get stuck in my fur.

I mostly let the other kids stick candy on and I stood back and watched.

A few days later I was finally to level 7 and Mommy said, "Trouble!  Why aren't you ready?
Did you forget that tonight is the night of your play and then we're going caroling?"
I didn't forget.  I kind of hoped she would have forgotten but I am not that lucky.

If you have never been in a play you might not know that the lights are very hot.
Especially if you have to wear a reindeer costurme.
And maybe you would not know that sometimes if you look out and see too many people watching you forget what you're supposed to say.
Mommy said I did a very good job.  Maybe she watched a different play, or maybe she didn't recognize me in my reindeer costume.

Then afterwards, we went caroling.  Have you ever been caroling?
Here is what you need to know about it:  IT IS COLD.
Mommy said cheer up, it is almost Christmas Eve!  On Christmas Eve, Santa will come!

Finally it was Christmas Eve.
Mommy helped me fix a snack.  I thought it was for me, but it turns out that Santa guy doesn't really work for free.
You have to bribe him. I wished we had some cookies, but Mommy said he would like Chex Mix just as well.

Then she said I'd better go to sleep.  I had a hard time falling asleep though.
I kept worrying that Santa would forget to close the door behind him and it would be very cold in our house in the morning.
I hate when it is very cold in our house in the morning.

Guess what!  It was cosy and warm in the morning, and there were presents under the tree Mommy had made us drag in!
I guess she knew what she was doing all along, who would have guessed?
And guess what Santa brought for little old me?

A brand new video game.
I asked Mommy if it was ok if I like Christmas and still don't like caroling or being a reindeer in a play.
She said yes, so that is my official position on the matter.
